9 of 11 people found the following review helpful Great Value and a very nice lens, April 10, 2012 Amazon Verified Purchase This review is from: Fujifilm Lens X-Pro1 35mm F1.4 Lens (Electronics) So why 5 stars? It's because it's a damn good lens for the money. It's not perfect, but for $600 what can you expect. Sure, I have lenses at similar focal lengths that are superior, but at a much much higher price.
It's a very well built lens but also light weight. It has an all metal housing, the hood is also metal but with a plastic connector. The focus is nicely damped with a good feeling metal grip. The aperture ring turns smoothly and clicks at 1/3 stops, although I wish the click was a little more firm. The lens attaches firmly to the body at a very tight tolerance. There's no play at all. The included cap is cheap plastic, but who really cares about the lens cap. The included rubber lenshood cap is a nice touch. Overall a very solid lens that reminds me of my old MF Zuiko glass from the 70's/80's.
It's focus-by-wire so it lacks the feel of a true MF lens, but paired with the Xpro1, you're focusing through an LCD anyways, so you're not going to get that... Read more
4 of 4 people found the following review helpful My experience has been positive so far., June 27, 2012 By Amazon Verified Purchase This review is from: Fujifilm Lens X-Pro1 18mm F2.0 Lens (Electronics) I purchased my Fuji XP1, 35mm, 60mm lenses from Japan in March and additionally purchased the 18mm lens from Amazon in May.
I use to have Nikon D7000 DSLR, but high quality pro lenses were too pricey and heavy.
I thought carefully of what I wanted. Since I'm not a pro and wanted something light for travel and high image quality is one of my top priority, I ultimately decided to switch to Fuji X Pro 1.
Today, I'll be sharing my experience with 18mm f/2 lens, 35mm f/1.4, and the 60mm f/2.4 macro.
-Fujifilm X-Pro1 18mm F2.0 Lens-
This lens is the smallest, lightest, and the cheapest feeling lens out of the three primes that are released.
Auto-focus seems faster or equal to Fuji's 35mm lens.
Manual and aperture ring feels "disconnected" do to it being focus by wire design and not mechanical.
The rubber lens hood cap, lens hood, and lens cap are poorly made. Long explanation short: it easily comes off.
So I purchased the EzFoto 52mm... Read more
